IOP Publishing appoints new sales and marketing director

Julian Wilson to lead global sales and marketing teams

IOP Publishing (IOPP) has appointed Julian Wilson as the company’s new sales and marketing director. He will be responsible for the development and execution of the global sales and library marketing strategy which will include building relationships with library customers, academic consortia and corporations.

Julian joins from John Wiley & Sons Ltd where he spent 15 years and held a variety of senior sales positions. He has extensive experience of leading sales teams across a wide range of products and markets, most recently as Wiley’s Europe, Middle East and Africa sales director responsible for library sales growth across the region.

Steven Hall, managing director, IOP Publishing said: “We’re delighted to welcome Julian to IOPP. His academic publishing experience, coupled with his energy and ingenuity, will be of huge value as we continue to ensure that our products, technology innovations and open access solutions evolve in line with customer needs.”

Commenting on his appointment, Julian said: “I’ve long admired IOPP as a publisher that leads with a genuine focus on its customer and a desire to remain at the forefront of scientific publishing developments. It’s an exciting company and I’m looking forward to joining the team and being part of its future.”

Julian will be based at IOPP’s head office in Bristol and will join the company on 12 October.
