First papers publish in Neuromorphic Computing and Engineering – IOP Publishing’s new open access journal

IOP Publishing is pleased to announce the publication of the first issue of Neuromorphic Computing and Engineering (NCE), a new, multidisciplinary, open access (OA) journal devoted to the design, development and application of artificial neural networks and brain-inspired systems towards advancing scientific discovery and realising emerging new computing technologies.

The scope and characteristics of Neuromorphic Computing and Engineering (NCE) have been designed in close consultation with the community so that it uniquely brings together all aspects of the field, serving a cross-disciplinary audience that will extend to physics, engineering, materials science, biology, neuroscience and computer science across academia and industry.
Introductory offer, available until 2022. All OA article publication charges are currently paid by IOP Publishing and there will be no author fees for articles submitted before 2022. Full details about the scope and editorial requirements can be found on the journal homepage.
As a fully OA journal, research published in NCE is universally accessible, ensuring maximum visibility and reach, and in the spirit of transparency and reproducibility authors will be encouraged to share data and code where appropriate for the benefit of the research community.
Professor Giacomo Indiveri, editor-in-chief of NCE said in his opening Editorial: “Neuromorphic Computing and Engineering has been established to provide a new open access medium explicitly designed to support this convergence of efforts, and to bring together all researchers engaged in these areas in a way that unites the community and defines the field of neuromorphic computing and engineering for years to come.”
