AI Horizons: a new diamond OA journal for AI in engineering and science
In partnership with the Eastern Institute of Technology, Ningbo (EIT), the Zhejiang Association for Science and Technology (ZAST), and the World Association of Young Scientists (WAYSS), IOP Publishing is launching AI Horizons, a new Diamond Open Access (OA) journal. The journal responds to the growing demand for a dedicated platform for research covering AI for engineering and science, as well as spatiotemporal, embodied and quantum intelligence.
AI Horizons encourages intellectual risk-taking, methodological pluralism and novel problem formulations that cut across traditional disciplinary boundaries to address some of the world’s most pressing problems. The partners sponsoring AI Horizons share a vision of building a global community of researchers working at the forefront of convergent AI, accelerating collaboration and helping translate breakthrough discoveries.
As a Diamond OA journal, AI Horizons removes financial barriers to publishing. All publication costs are covered by the journal’s sponsors, enabling authors to publish Gold OA under a CC BY 4.0 licence without paying article processing charges (APCs).
The journal will open for submissions in October and will be guided by an international Editorial Board of leading scientists and engineers. Editorial operations and peer review will be managed by the Editorial Office at Eastern Institute of Technology in China.
Prof. Shiyi Chen, Editor-in-Chief of AI Horizons, said: “To the next generation of scientists and engineers: the boundaries you see between fields are illusions. The real breakthroughs happen at the intersections of research disciplines, where theory meets real-world engineering, spatiotemporal dynamics meet embodied systems and where AI meets quantum intelligence. We’ve created AI Horizons to lead in this new era of convergent research. By announcing the journal ahead of the World Young Scientist Summit, we are creating a new platform for dialogue and idea sharing. The journal reflects our commitment to hybrid thinking and invites emerging researchers worldwide to contribute to new frontiers in science.”
The journal is committed to maintaining high editorial standards through rigorous peer review. Authors will benefit from speedy publication workflows and flexible manuscript formats.
