Tracking tool allows authors to follow their article’s progress

Authors for IOP Publishing journals can now quickly and easily find out what is happening to their submission throughout the publication process, using the Track my article page on our Publishing Support site.

In response to feedback from our authors, IOP Publishing has designed the system to be simple and easy to use. Authors can access the service at any point in the process simply by providing a manuscript ID. They will then be able to see up to the minute information on the status of their paper.

“This is another step towards improving the transparency of the publication process and enhancing our customers’ experience of working with IOP Publishing”, said Marc Gillett, Head of Publishing Operations at IOP.

“We listen to feedback from the academic community, so we know that understanding what is happening to their submission is a significant concern for authors. Track my article is a simple and effective tool that will help alleviate that problem.”

Track my article will allow authors to see what stage their manuscript is at in the publishing process; how long that stage is expected to take; and whether they need to take any action.

Alex Richardson, Customer Experience Architect at IOP Publishing, added: “I am really pleased to announce the release of the Track my article tool on our Publishing Support site. It’s a great step forward in increasing the transparency of the publication process for authors, and most importantly it is quick and simple to use.”

“One of our main goals is to improve the experience for authors in every interaction they have with IOP Publishing. We have been listening to author feedback, and are building that into the plans for improvements of the products and services they use. Over the coming months, we will continue to listen to the scientific community and look to build on this with more useful tools and improvements to existing services.”
