IOP Publishing signs transformative agreement with MALMAD to benefit leading institutions in Israel

29 Jun 2021 by James McGraw

IOP Publishing (IOPP) has signed a new open access transformative agreement with Israeli academic consortium the Israeli Inter University Centre for Digital Information Services (MALMAD).

As part of the three year ‘read and publish’ agreement, which runs until the end of 2023, researchers affiliated with the MALMAD member institutions involved will be able to publish open access in IOPP’s hybrid titles with no article publication charges for qualifying articles at the point of publication.

Authors will be able to retain copyright on their articles, which will be published under an open license (CC-BY). As well as being able to enjoy barrier-free publication, researchers and students at the participating institutions will have reading access to the majority of content published on IOPscience.

Julian Wilson, sales and marketing director at IOP Publishing said: “These agreements are designed to make research as accessible as possible whilst ensuring sustainability and quality for the academic community. We are pleased to have extended our partnership with MALMAD to bring these benefits its member organisations.”

Dr. Sigal Lahav Scher, MALMAD Director said: “We are excited to have a read and publish agreement with IOP Publishing as it demonstrates the importance that we place on facilitating the transition to open access. Continuing our collaboration with IOP Publishing via this agreement makes it more convenient for researchers at three of Israel’s leading universities to publish open access, with the additional benefit of reading access to IOP Publishing’s cutting-edge content.”
