IOP Publishing partners with OCLC

17 Apr 2012 by iopp

IOP Publishing (IOP) has partnered with the Online Computer Library Center (OCLC) to include IOP journal content in WorldCat Local, WorldCat.org and OCLC WorldShare Management Services.

As a result of this initiative, WorldCat customers in 170 countries will be able to search the abstracts of the 460,000 plus articles hosted by IOP through WorldCat services.

Full text access will be provided through IOPscience (IOP’s journals platform) and access to the full text of an article will be dependent on the subscriptions held by a customer.

IOP’s Journal Archive is also included in the arrangement enabling users to search articles dating back as far as 1874 including pivotal research from Sir Ernest Rutherford, Neils Bohr and Sir Edward Appleton to name but a few.

Graham McCann, Head of Product Management and Innovation at IOP said, “This agreement supports our commitment to providing our customers with the best access to high impact research. By adding IOPscience abstracts to OCLC’s services, we are helping our researchers who use WorldCat’s popular discovery services to quickly get access to the content they need.”
