IOP Publishing launches social media powered poster conference #IOPPposter

22 Jun 2020 by Simon Davies

Twenty-four hour Twitter Poster Conference enables the global scientific community to connect virtually

IOP Publishing (IOPP) will host their first Twitter poster conference on 15-16 July 2020. #IOPPposter is a free event that will enable researchers to present their posters in a virtual capacity to peers and other members of the scientific community.

Coinciding with the recent launch of IOP SciNotes, a unique new open access option for authors to formally publish and disseminate individual stages of their research work, #IOPPposter aims to provide a platform for researchers to present their posters virtually through Twitter.

Encompassing all areas of scientific research, we invite researchers to join in and share research with peers and other members of the global scientific community to encourage discussion and collaboration.

Held over a 24 hour period (Wednesday 15 July 12:00 BST to Thursday 16 July 12:00 BST), participants will be asked to present their posters using #IOPPposter and their subject category of research #hashtag. Participants will be able to exchange knowledge and collaborate on latest research and emerging areas of interest with peers and experts and gather interdisciplinary reactions.

All participants will be asked to register on the webpage and posters will be judged in each subject category by leading international experts from the board of IOP SciNotes, and other IOP Publishing journal boards. Winning posters will receive £100 and an IOPP ebook of their choice.

Tim Smith, Associate Director at IOP Publishing said: “#IOPPposter will open up a novel way for new science to be shared and discussed online. We are looking forward to seeing some really exciting research presented in this virtual way and generating some online attention as the global scientific community comes together.”
