Engineering Research Express – a new journal from IOP Publishing
IOP Publishing has introduced Engineering Research Express (ERX) as a new addition to its journal portfolio.
ERX will publish experimental and theoretical research covering topics extending across all areas of engineering science, including interdisciplinary fields. It will have broad subject coverage, a fast-track peer-review process and an inclusive editorial selection process focused on scientific rigour and validity rather than perceived impact.
The journal will be led by founding Editor-in-Chief Dr Jingyan Dong (North Carolina State University, USA).
Dr Dong said: “Engineering Research Express is aimed at all engineering scientists, in all parts of the world and will build upon the world-leading reputation IOP Publishing already has in the physical sciences. I look forward to building this journal into a new multidisciplinary home for research that reflects the complete breadth of how engineering and the physical sciences now intersect.”
In response to community demand, all authors will have the option of single or double-blind peer review when submitting to the journal. Read more about the review options here.
“Engineering Research Express has been designed to represent engineering scientists worldwide with a subject coverage that reflects how engineering today interfaces with communities extending across physics, materials science, physical chemistry, environmental science, the biological sciences and industry.” said Dr Tim Smith, Associate Director for Journals Product Development at IOP Publishing.
Dr Smith added: “The journal will be an important addition to IOP’s increasingly diverse journals publishing programme, and we look forward to publishing the inaugural issue later in 2019.”
ERX is now open for submissions and will be free to read throughout 2019 and 2020 to maximise the visibility of the first content and published authors.
