15 Jan 2026 by Aileen Irons

The journal 2D Materials established the annual 2DM Young Scientist Award in both 2024 and 2025, with the aim of encouraging and supporting scientific innovation in the 2D materials community. Building on the success of the first two editions, 2D Materials is once again partnering with the 2026 International Forum on Graphene in Shenzhen & 2nd International Conference on 2D Materials (Shenzhen International graphene), to proudly launch the 2026 2DM Young Scientist Award.

The nomination process is now officially open. We warmly invite you to apply or to nominate outstanding candidates to join this prestigious initiative. The deadline for nomination is February 20, 2026.

The 2026 2DM Young Scientist Awards

The journal 2D Materials is inviting nominations from across the globe for the 2DM Young Scientist Award. The award is dedicated to exceptional young scientists (born on or after January 1, 1986) who have made significant contributions to the field of two-dimensional materials and demonstrate great potential for development.

The winners will be evaluated by the award committee and the award ceremony will take place at the 13th International Forum on Graphene in Shenzhen in 2026.  The winner will be invited to give a presentation at the conference and write an article for 2D Materials.
