Physics World wins ‘Best Editorial and Marketing Collaboration’ at the SIPA Awards

15 Jul 2011 by iopp

The Physics World team won the award for ‘Best Editorial and Marketing Collaboration’ at the 5th Annual Specialised Information Publishers Association (SIPA) awards in London earlier this month. The recognition from SIPA follows hot on the heels of physicsworld.com’s success in winning ‘Best specialist site for journalism’ at the inaugural Online Media Awards in June.

The SIPA award recognizes the collaborative efforts of Physics World’s editorial and marketing team to fully embrace new media channels to promote content and drive readership. The judges were impressed by the team’s efforts to find innovative ways to engage with the physics community and their implementation of a mix of multimedia services – video, webinar and audio – coupled with Twitter campaigns, blogging, the development of a news app and an enhanced rich-media digital edition of the magazine.

“We are delighted to have our hard work recognized by this award,” said Jo Allen, head of B2B and marketing at IOP Publishing. “The team has worked tirelessly to innovate and improve our services to the physics community. By making high-value content such as video, mobile apps and webinars available and making effective use of social media channels such as Facebook and YouTube, we have been able to provide services that are truly useful to physicists wherever they are based.”
