IOP Publishing staff more than double fundraising target for Children’s Hospice South West
Staff at IOP Publishing (IOP) have raised £13,447 for their nominated charity of 2013, Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW). The money raised more than doubles IOP’s initial fundraising target of £6,000.
A fundraising committee of 10 staff organised a variety of events throughout the year to raise money for the charity. Events included pub quizzes, a photo competition, a band night, book sales and a Christmas card and Christmas jumper day.
In addition, many staff members from across the business organised their own personal fundraising activities, taking part in CHSW events such as the Santa Run, Rainbow Run and Ride for Precious Lives – a 215 mile cycle ride around the South West.
Karen O’Flaherty, HR Director at IOP said: “This has been a fantastic achievement by all staff but especially the fundraising team. It shows just how dedicated everyone is in making the principles of our corporate social responsibility policy a reality, as well as making a difference in our local area. I am very proud of all of the staff here at IOP.”
Janey Hellman, CHSW Corporate Partnerships Fundraiser said: “We are hugely grateful to everyone at IOP for their amazing fundraising efforts – exceeding their target by so much is a fantastic achievement.
“As a charity the money we receive from the Government is not guaranteed each year, therefore corporate partnerships such as this enable us to continue supporting life-limited children and their families. The money raised by IOP could pay for one family to use our services at our Charlton Farm hospice for an entire year, providing much needed respite breaks.”
Since 2012, IOP has adopted a ‘charity of the year’, where a local charity is selected as a result of a staff vote. In 2012, IOP’s charity of the year was BRACE, a local charity funding research into dementia and in 2014 the charity of the year is FareShare South West who work to relieve food poverty.
The company provides fund matching to support staff in raising money for their charity of the year.
