IOP Publishing announces 2012 Library Advisory Boards
IOP Publishing is dedicated to perfecting the user experience for all of our customers. To ensure that we achieve this aim, we are delighted to announce a series of library advisory board meetings for 2012. The initiative is designed to help the company develop products and services that are tailor made to the needs of the scientific research community and to engage information professionals at the deepest level to secure the brightest future for scholarly communication.
In 2012, we will host two meetings, one in the UK and one in the US, with two different panels of librarians selected from some of the most notable research institutions in the world. The meetings will be run by independent facilitators and members of the boards have been selected for their experience and reputation in the industry.
Board members will also be asked to advise IOP Publishing on key matters and industry issues that arise during their period of service.
Olaf Ernst, Executive Vice President, Sales, Marketing and Business Development of IOP Publishing said, “This is a time of unprecedented change in the world of scholarly publishing and it is only by listening to and engaging with the research and information community that publishers will ensure that their offerings continue to add value and enhance the scholarly communications process. IOP is strongly committed to partnering with the library community as we recognise the contribution made by librarians in managing the changing expectations of researchers. The need for first class research remains consistent, but how that content is delivered is up for grabs and this is one of the important questions we will be exploring with the library advisory boards.”
The first two boards will cover the American and European regions. The company plans to expand its Library Advisory Boards and invite representatives from Asia, Latin America and the Middle East for future regional board meetings to reflect on the differences in the global STM market.
IOP Publishing staff and board members alike are very enthusiastic about this new initiative and are committed to ensuring that the advice and guidance imparted by the Library Advisory Board is treated with the utmost priority.
