IOP Publishing and the Institute of Physics congratulate the winners of the IOP Student Science Publication Award, announced at last night’s Association of British Science Writers’ (ABSW) Awards Ceremony.
The awards were presented by Margaret Harris, Section Editor of Physics World, as follows:
Winner: Broadsheet, Imperial College
Editor-in-Chief: Ben Stockton
Sub Editors: Sophie Reid and Fiona Mashford
The judges said: “It’s like a posh cream tea – full of delightful things, great variety and lots of intellectual calories.”
Prize: £300 and certificates.
Runner up: I, Science, Imperial College
Co-Editors in Chief: Jennifer Toes and Iona Twaddell
Magazine Editor: Kruti Shrotri
The judges said: “A really enjoyable read, with consistently good science content throughout.”
Prize: £200 and certificates.
Also on the shortlist was Science 151 (City University).
Publications were judged on the quality of science writing, in terms of good journalism, creativity and appropriateness for the publication’s target audience, as well as the overall design.
