IOP Publishing launches new award to celebrate outstanding Editorial Board members

IOPP announces inaugural editorial excellence awards
IOP Publishing (IOPP) has launched a new annual award to recognise the exceptional contributions of its Editorial Board members and the vital role they play in upholding rigorous standards, supporting trusted science and strengthening research communities.
These awards recognise the breadth of contributions Editorial Board members make from guiding journal development to supporting peer review and community engagement. Contributions include:
- Working with leading researchers in the field to enable the publication of high-impact, novel research elevating a journal’s profile.
- Providing strategic insights that significantly influence a journal’s direction and development.
- Engaging researchers, institutions or communities through ambassadorial activity that raises journal visibility.
- Demonstrating excellence in peer review including the quality, quantity and timeliness of reviewer reports.
Nominations were submitted by IOPP journal teams, with 10 winners selected by a panel of three publishing experts. The awards are presented in the following subject categories:
- Machine Learning
- Quantum Science / Photonics
- Physics
- Environment and Energy
- Materials Science / Condensed Matter
- Biomedical Engineering and Medical Physics
- Engineering
- Mathematics
