IOP Publishing celebrates early career brilliance in nanotechnology

IOP Publishing (IOPP) are delighted to announce the winner of the 2022 Mark Reed Young Researcher Award which recognises early career brilliance in nanotechnology and is open to students and researchers within the first five years of completing their PhD. 

Organised by Nanotechnologythe IOPP journal received over 25 excellent nominations which were considered by the Editorial Board who selected an overall winner: Dr Valerio Pinchetti.

Dr Pinchetti has published a series of excellent papers over the last five years that focus on the optical, photonic, and magnetic properties of novel colloidal semiconductor nanocrystals. He has received a prize to the value of £300, a free open access credit, and a framed certificate. 

The Mark Reed Young Researcher award is named in honour ofthe lateProfessor Mark Reed, who was the Editor-in-Chief of IOPP’s journals Nanotechnology between 2009 and 2019 and founding Editor-in-Chief of Nano Futures. Reed served as the Director of Undergraduate Studies for the Department of Electrical Engineering at Yale University for many years, nurturing and mentoring many young investigators. He placed a great importance on supporting young scientists and engineers and was an irreplaceable source of support for those that worked with him.
