IOP Publishing is launching Environmental Research Communications (ERC) as the newest addition to its journal portfolio.
ERC is an inclusive open access journal for the rapid publication of high-quality research in all areas of environmental science.
Holly Young, ERC’s Publisher at IOP Publishing, said: “We are very excited about the launch of Environmental Research Communications. The journal will enhance the IOP environment and energy portfolio by focusing on publishing high-quality scientific research that advances our knowledge of the environment.”
The journal does not make a subjective assessment on the potential future significance of papers. Instead, it provides authors with a rapid platform for communicating research that meets high standards of scientific validity and rigour. All types of results can be published, including negative results, null results and replication studies, provided they contribute to advancing knowledge in their field.
ERC will be guided by a senior editorial advisory panel, working closely with the in-house editorial team to ensure that the journal meets its aim of high quality peer review, rapid publication and inclusive coverage of all environmental research. Leaders in their fields, they provide final arbitration for scientific disputes, and advice on emerging subjects.
The senior editorial advisory panel comprises:
- Qingyun Duan Beijing Normal University, People’s Republic of China
- Weijun Gao Kitakyushu University, Japan
- Pavel Groisman North Carolina State University, USA
- Rosamond Naylor Stanford University, USA
- Paul Palmer University of Edinburgh, UK
- G Arturo Sanchez-Azofeifa University of Alberta, Canada
- Wilfried Winiwarter International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis, Austria
ERC is now open for submissions. As an open access title, ERC will be permanently free to read for anyone. The first issue of the journal is expected to publish in December 2018.
