IOP Publishing (IOPP) has signed an unlimited open access (OA) agreement with Couperin, the French national consortium of higher education and research institutions, marking a step in the transition to open science in Europe. This three-year ‘read and publish’ agreement gives member institutions the option to participate and enables affiliated researchers to publish an unlimited number of articles open access in IOPP journals.
Couperin comprises 306 member institutions, including 106 universities. Of these, 28 are expected to join the agreement, representing the subject areas covered by the IOPP journal portfolio.
Julian Wilson, Chief Sales Officer at IOP Publishing, commented: “France is the final major European region where we have significant publishing activity but, until now, no open access agreement. This partnership is a milestone in our mission to make European research fully open. It also builds on our long-standing relationship with Couperin and French academic institutions.”
The agreement expands IOPP’s rapidly growing portfolio of transformative ‘read and publish’ agreements, now spanning over 1,000 institutions in 40 countries – underlining its dedication to advancing open science and increasing global access to high-quality research.
