Advancing research excellence in India
As one of the fastest-growing contributors to global research, India is helping shape the future of the physical sciences. That’s why we work in partnership with researchers, institutions and the wider research community across the country to support the discovery, dissemination and impact of high-quality science.
Through training, publishing programmes and community engagement, we help researchers increase the visibility, reach and impact of their work to support the ongoing influence of research in India across the physical sciences
Supporting impactful research
- Free training to strengthen author and reviewer skills
- Over 100 trusted, high-impact journals backed by the Institute of Physics
- Part of the One Nation One Subscription Government of India Initiative
- World-leading peer review practices designed to reduce bias

One Nation One Subscription
We are part of the One Nation One Subscription (ONOS) initiative, helping researchers across India access a broad range of high‑quality research published in IOP Publishing (IOPP) journals.
APC support for eligible authors
Under the ONOS initiative, eligible authors based in India may receive full Article Publishing Charge (APC) support when publishing in selected journals, helping to increase visibility and accessibility of their research.
Current participating journals include:
Through ONOS, researchers can:
- Support their work with high‑quality citations
- Access and build on trusted, peer‑reviewed research
- Share and engage with global scientific developments
- Explore open access publishing opportunities
Submission guidance and author resources
How to publish your work
Publishing should be clear, not complicated. Our Publishing Support hub brings together practical guidance, tools and resources to support researchers at every stage of the publishing journey, helping them prepare, submit and publish with confidence.
Training and certification
We offer free online training courses that enable researchers to learn at their own pace, build valuable skills and gain certification on completion.
Peer Review Excellence online course
Thousands of researchers have strengthened their skills through IOPP’s free Peer Review Excellence training.
Designed for researchers in the physical sciences, the course provides clear, practical guidance on assessing manuscripts effectively and confidently. It also helps researchers develop the skills expected of expert reviewers, supporting their professional development and increasing opportunities to participate in peer review.
Open Data Excellence online course
Our Open Data Excellence course supports researchers in adopting open data practices that enhance the transparency, reproducibility, and impact of their research.
Through practical guidance on implementing the FAIR data principles, researchers can develop the skills needed to make their data more discoverable, accessible and reusable. Upon completion participants receive a certificate and digital badge that recognises their achievement.
Workshops and events for researchers in India
Alongside our online training and resources we also offer a range of workshops, webinars and outreach activities designed to support researchers, librarians and institutions across India. These include:
- How to Get Published workshops
- Live and on-demand webinars
- Local outreach and community engagement activities
In April 2026 we held a webinar featuring leading female physicists from across academia and industry in India. Each panellist shared their experiences and insight, focusing on the successes and the challenges faced by women in higher education, ways to overcome them, as well as the opportunities for women in physics and physical sciences. Watch our Celebrating Women in Physics in India webinar now.
Whether you’re looking to develop your publishing knowledge, strengthen research skills or connect with the wider research community, our team is here to help.
