IOP Publishing has been proud to publish Science and Technology of Advanced Materials (STAM) jointly with the National Institute for Materials Science (NIMS) since 2008. During which time the journal has grown significantly in output, quality and international influence achieving and impact factor of 3.752, the highest to date, in 2012.
In June 2015, having completed an extensive review of the publishing strategy for STAM and the IOP materials science portfolio, it has been decided to discontinue the partnership from January 2016 so that the journal can move in another direction. Naturally, this shift is a matter of regret for IOP Publishing. We wish STAM every success in developing a new publishing partnership and will continue to work with them to complete the 2015 volume and to assist them in moving the journal and minimise disruption for the author community.
