New membership grade introduced for digital access to Physics World

14 Feb 2011 by iopp

The Institute of Physics (IOP) has launched a new offer designed to make the benefits of membership available more widely to the international physics community.

IOPimember is a new form of digital membership open to anyone interested in physics around the world. For an annual fee of $25, IOPimembers will have access to many of the services provided electronically by the Institute including the digital version of Physics World.

Physics World is the flagship monthly membership magazine of the Institute that provides an unrivalled update for readers on the latest developments in physics. A new digital edition is now available to all members, including IOPimembers and offers greatly improved functionality and the ability to search all issues going back to January 2010. From March, readers will also be able to download an iPad and iPhone app, and an Android version is in development for the near future.

John Brindley, IOP’s director of membership and business, commented: “IOPimember is an important new initiative to bring IOP to a wider community using exciting new digital platforms – which will also improve the services we offer to all IOP members.

“Last month, Science Minister David Willetts helped us celebrate as our membership passed the 40,000 mark for the first time in our history. Now IOPimember will help us communicate the excitement of physics even more widely right across the world.”

A sample issue of the new digital edition is now available as a taster for non-members. Existing members can read the latest issue of Physics World on the new digital platform at myiop.org.
