The 2014 Impact Factors, published by Thomson Reuters, once again show significant growth for journals published by IOP Publishing (IOP).
Jamie Hutchins, Publishing Director of IOP said: “This year’s results are a measure of the quality and influence of the journals published by IOP and our partners and show that researchers who publish with us are in the right place to be seen and cited by their peers.
“On behalf of the entire team at IOP Publishing, I’d like to thank our many authors, referees and boards for their hard work and their vital support which is such a huge part of our continued growth and success.”
This year, more than half of the titles published by IOP have seen significant increases in citations from last year. 14 titles have had an increase of over 10% and 17 of IOP’s journals now have Impact Factors above 3.000. Over half the portfolio has an Impact Factor over 2.000.
There were big increases for many individual journals including (in alphabetical order):
- Biomedical Materials increased by 27% to 3.697.
- Chinese Physics C increased by 60% to 1.313. The journal is published by the Chinese Physical Society with the Institute of High Energy Physics, CAS, and the Institute of Modern Physics, CAS. It is hosted online by IOP Publishing.
- Japanese Journal of Applied Physics increased by 7% to 1.127. The journal is published by IOP Publishing on behalf of the Japan Society of Applied Physics (JSAP).
- Journal of Breath Research increased by 29% to 4.631.
- Journal of Radiological Protection increased by 29% to 1.702. Published in partnership with the Society for Radiological Protection (SRP).
- Metrologia increased by 23% to 2.041. Published in partnership with the Bureau International des Poids et Mesures (BIPM).
- Modelling and Simulation in Materials Science and Engineering increased by 45% to 2.167.
- Physics-Uspekhi increased by 36% to 2.606. Published in partnership with Turpion and the flagship journal of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
The Impact Factor of course is not the full story and other measures, such as article level metrics, help demonstrate the wider impact of individual articles. In addition, we are pleased to report record usage of journal content published with IOP. Overall online usage has grown 32% comparing 2013 and 2014 figures.
Our full results will be published on IOPscience shortly.
