04 Jan 2016 by alisonhadley

Elaine Tham has been announced as Associate Director, Asia-Pacific, at IOP Publishing (IOP).

Elaine joined IOP in February 2014 as Senior Publisher, Asia-Pacific, where she was responsible for managing 13 partner journals in the Asia-Pacific region and the launch of IOP’s multidisciplinary journal Flexible and Printed Electronics™ in 2015.

As Associate Director, she is now responsible for IOP’s journal-publishing activities in the Asia-Pacific region, which includes management of the Tokyo and Beijing publishing teams and partner development, as well as managing relations with IOP’s valued partners.

About her new position, she said: “Asia-Pacific as a region is an incredibly important source of quality scientific content, and I look forward to enhancing our presence and reach to grow IOP’s community of authors, readers, editorial-board members and referees.”

With almost 15 years’ experience in science publishing, Elaine worked at Springer Science+Business Media in the US and Cambridge University Press in Asia, prior to joining IOP.

Elaine is based in Singapore but will be travelling frequently to IOP’s offices in Beijing and Tokyo, as well as other key markets within the Asia-Pacific region.
